HOW DO I...
GET HELP OUT OF HOURS?
If you need to see a doctor or ask for some medical advice when the surgery is closed you can:
- Telephone NHS Direct on 0845 46 47
- Telephone the out-of-hours doctors' service on 0870 241 8279
- Telephone the surgery on 320046. A message will ask you to telephone 0870 241 8279.
The out of hours service will:
- Arrange for a doctor to visit if appropriate
- Ask for you to travel to a primary care centre
- Give you advice over the telephone
- Arrange an ambulance for a medical emergency
- You may also wish to access the NHS Hull Treatment of Minor
Illnesses Scheme.
HOW DO I...
MAKE AN
APPOINTMENT?
- (Telephone 320046)
Routine appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance.
If a 'review appointment' is necessary
the GP will give you a slip to take to Reception and book it, normally for a Tuesday,
Wednesday or a Thursday.
If you think you have an urgent medical problem
that cannot wait until the next routine appointment is available you will be given
an urgent appointment. All urgent appointments will be recorded as such on your
medical records. This is so we can follow trends in patient demand.
If the doctor decides that you are a medical emergency and better care can be provided
at a hospital he or she may ask you to visit the nearest Accident & Emergency
Department or call an ambulance for you.
NB: On certain occasions where a high demand for appointments is expected, for example following
public holidays, or if there is a shortage of doctors, we may revert to providing
a 'same day' booking system.
Cancellation
There is a special telephone number to cancel appointments - 07791 592274.
Patients who regularly fail to keep appointments may be removed from the practice list at the partners' discretion.
HOW DO I...
REQUEST A HOME VISIT?
- (Telephone
320046)
If you require a house call, you should ask for it as early in the day as possible.
House calls are only provided for patients who are housebound due to their illness
or condition. You may be asked some questions by a receptionist working to a protocol
agreed upon by the doctors and designed to help them decide the most appropriate
place to see you; a doctor may also speak to you directly on the telephone. We
hope that you understand that we are not trying to be difficult or obstructive.
We are trying to make the best possible use of doctor's time for the benefit
of all our patients. You should also be aware that a doctor has equipment and
supplies available in the surgery that cannot be taken to your home in their bag.
